Nothing But Purple: 2009

Monday, November 16, 2009

Dear Connor,

To my oldest, who is four years old and in his second year of preschool.  Such a tall kid at such a young age, 44 inches.  You did well with your shots.  You're good until you go into middle school, jr high.

You enjoy being out and about all the time, but with mommy babysitting that's hard to do when we have a car that doesn't have the room for three carseats in the back.  I wish we could get a van.

I love the way you talk to your brother sometimes it's funny. "You like it," is what I heard in your recent conversation with James.  You had just given him the Bob the Builder top for your guys apple juice drinks.

You have been very interested in art and pretend play lately.  You like to pretend you are the chef and mommy is the customer.  You had made me chicken and rice it was very delicious.  I hope you keep it up because it could lead to something big!!  Like Chef Ramsey from Hell's Kitchen!!

Once mommy gets a house that has a bigger kitchen we WILL spend most of our time cooking and baking all kinds of food.

I can't believe you will be 4.5 years old in December!  Going through photos from years past has been great.  Those days were great!  These present days though are still great and just different in their greatness.

Keep learning and keep amazing me Connor Boy.

I Love You,

Mommy

Twilight Convention

In Nashville!! I would so love to go but things are so tight.  I would love to promote your business at the Convention

I have been wanting to go to a TwiCon since Twilight came out last year and since New Moon is fast approaching I'd like to go to one.  As an added bonus this will be my first novel/movie convention so you will get fresh eyes to gander at your products and ask me questions about them.

I've read the books twice and saw the movie in theaters along with having it on DVD, and the soundtrack that I listen to everytime I get in the car.  I also did a giveaway in the past that was Twilight related for a bracelet.

I'm sitting here looking at the packages for the Twilight Convention am hoping a few friends will want to join with me but if you have anything Twilight related I would LOVE to bring it with me, pass out business cards, or free samples that you may have laying around.

Reading Goals

First I was intrigued by all the women suggesting to read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. I borrowed the four books from a friend and had them all read before the movie came out last fall. I reread them after I received them as a gift at Christmas.

At the sametime I also received The House of Night Series by P.C. and Kristin Cast. I had them all read within a month and there were five, I hope to get the sixth one when it comes out next month.

Lately I've been reading Nora Roberts The Circle Trilogy starting with Morrigan's Cross. SO far I like it. I'm on chapter seventeen and would LIKE to finish it before the weekend.

Then I've been hearing a lot about True Blood and Sookie Stackhouse. I had just watched two of the first episodes and was very intrigued. So my mom gifted me with four for Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels NOT starting with the first. I will have to find it so that I may read it from start to finish.

Just last week I watched Vampire Diaries and learned that it too is a book series by L Jane Smith, she is now on my to read list on GoodReads.com. I liked the first episode of Vampire Diares, Elena almost reminds me of a younger version of Eva Longoria and another actress but I can't put my finger on it. It will drive me crazy until I have figured it out.

Anyway Jennifer of Rundpinne sent me an invite to Good Reads and I've found a lot of books that I would like to read just by reading other's reviews.  Quite fun.  Makes me want to read as I've never been one for reading not even the books the teachers wanted us to read in school.

WOOORAAAHHH!!! And Policy Info

Got Woopra back on my computer! Now if only I could get one review done a week that would be SUPERFLY! I miss blogging so much.  What I'm able to type is so spacey that I wish I had more time to spend on one subject in each post.

So for those that are looking for reviews from a mom with two boys ages 4 and almost 3 please don't hesitate to email me, caleenna at gmail dot com. I am able to check email mostly on the weekends so send it Friday and you will get a response by late Monday night.  Also from the time I receive the product or the time I receive confirmation of the review it will start the week of using the product, website or what have you.  Then on that last day I will compile on my notes and type up the review, it will sit for a day so that I may come back to it and reread it before posting.  I will also send you, the vendor, a link to the review so that you may do as you please with it.  I will have this posted on the PR page of my site as well so it will be in on spot at all times.

This will be my policy from now and until I can afford to have internet at my own home.  If you have any concerns or questions please email me at the above address.

In other news, my family has been sick the chills the aches you name it we are now starting to get over it but I just went to the doctor today and I have a slight case of bronchitis. Icky stuff I tell you.  The boys though seem to be doing alright and I'm sure they won't get worse.

Gotta go home and call the parents of the child that I babysit and let them know that I now have antibiotics to help me get better.

Enjoy you Monday Night.

The New Look and More...

Look look... I have a page on Facebook now, you can either see it here or click on the fan button on my badge over there on the right side.  There is also a badge for my husband's page that I created for him.  I will be posting pictures and videos of live demonstrations that he does of his artwork.  So keep a look out for updates.

More that has gone on this week. Tuesday was the first MOPS meeting of the school year.  I had a wonderful time chilling out and learning a few things about our leaders.  Next meeting, if I'm able to go that is, every member will have their own Me Box with stuff that they enjoy with their family and self.  I've already decorated mine and placed a few things in it.

I've also undergone a blog makeover that I totally love and will enjoy for months to come!  All Thanks to Caitlin of MommyGeekology and Toni of A Daily Dose, who referred me to Caitlin.  I gave her ideas for the header and a few iStock photos to go off of.  What she created was AWESOME!  I've always liked the images in headers of the moms and kids, so I had to go with that idea.  Then I just told her something purple and to throw in some accent colors for the columns.  I absolutely love what she's done with the customizations.  Caitlin was a joy to work with even though I wasn't online every second of the day.

Yesterday we took the boys to the zoo and had a blast.  We were there for five hours!! Took lots of pictures, saw a baby elephant too.  The boys enjoyed themselves and slept on the way home.

Today we hung out over at my mother in-laws house for awhile recieved an MP3 player from her for my birthday and ate lasagna for dinner.  My parents came over to our place, I recieved four Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris, a Katy Perry cd, a shirt and bed sheets!  I'm so wondering what Chris bought me.. LOL I'm excited to see it.  Then last but not least my brother, I hope he calls before he shows up at the house.  I just might be in the tub enjoying some quiet time tomorrow.

Babysitting is going well, even though I'm only watching one child again.  I just pray to GOD that I get to keep watching her soon.  Her daddy is looking for a job.  James enjoys Punky's, the eleventh month old that comes to the house at 6:30 in the morning, time with us.  This whole weekend he has been asking, "Where's Baby?" I tell him that she is at home with her mommy and daddy.  She turns one tomorrow!  I thought that was really cool.

I've also been reading.  Last year I read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer before the movie came out then I read the House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast.  Now I started readin Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts, that one is a bit of a reach for me but I will keep at it because it's witches, wolves, vampires, warlocks and more.  Just something about paranormal and fantasy that has really been intriguing.   My mom has gifted me with four of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels.  I don't have the first one so I will be reading those after I'm done with Morrigan's Cross.

All-Star Buddies

All-Star Buddies is a new interactive online site for kids.  Their mission is "to provide a safe, entertaining and educational virtual world for kids 6+. All Star Buddies takes you on a virtual adventure throughout the town of Varsity Heights."

They what they call Buddies that you can play with there are at least seven you can play with such as Blitz, Deke , and Duce .   The All-Star Buddies site teaches lessons such as good sportsmanship, teamwork and the importance of leading a healthy and active life, that I'm sure all of us are working to better.  Your children can play an assortment of games while socializing with others.  The site was built by two mothers who share a passion for sports and fitness. While their children were growing up and became more interested in the internet all the things that come with it they decided to create a fun envirnoment for all kids.  And so All-Star Buddies was born.

There's a place to learn more about each charactor so your child can pick the one they like. You can also purchase toys for your little ones. Althouh you will have to use their store locator to find a store near you to be able to purchase them.

Sunday Snipits

Thanks to Toni of A Daily Dose, I was referred to Caitlin of MommyGeekology for a little bit of a site design change.  I'm excited because I already love the header she has done up for me.

WHY OH WHY!! Sorry just a slight mishap.

Anyway on with my Sunday Snipits, Connor has been back to school for two weeks now and I have been enjoying the semi quiet mornings.  I started babysitting after I was laid off well now I'm babysitting an eleventh month old who is just now getting her canine teeth.  Boy is she clingy sometimes.  So I babysit two that go to preschool both in the morning and two that are not old enough just yet.  I think I'm going to like it but it's only been a week with the little one.  A little funny fact that I learned is that Punky, the eleventh month has the same birthday as I do.

James is doing better with the potty training than I thought, I just had to put him underwear to get him to notice what he was doing.  Apparently my brother was like that.  He didn't care while wearing diapers or pull-ups.  Yesterday he finally went poop on the potty. Funny thing though, he watched what he was doing.  So he will deffinitely be ready for preschool next year but I'm not sure I want him to go although he'll need it for the socialization.

I'm doing a little better myself about things.  Chris is so serious about doing painting projects for people.  I will be helping him get a booth for the festival that is coming up at the end of the month, Septmember.  Fingers crossed we get a wonderful turnout.  Just need to get him to do something other than planets and mountains.

There is a Wordless Wednesday coming this week.  Along with another post tomorrow morning.  I have finally been able to do a few things today since my dad helped fix my computer!! YAY! Now I'll be able to show off more pictures along with maybe one review every two weeks.

LIFE

I'm beginning to realize what I may have missed out on while being a mother for the past four years. Don't get me wrong I've loved every minute of it but I really feel like I need a vacation AWAY from all the stress of home and finances. Does anyone else feel this way?

I've felt like this for eight months now, but I've been on some medication because it got to the point that I was screaming at the boys and not wanting to do house work. Another thing that let me know something was going on was when a friend of mine asked me why I would want another baby. I've told her from time to time that I would like to have three and to try for a girl when the time was right for us again. She comes back to tell me that I was being selfish, now why on earth would I be selfish when I said I would wait til the time felt right again. I know emotionally and financially that we are not ready for another. Then I start crying and start the whole thing about me being as young as I am with two kids when it wasn't planned that way.

I really just have a WHOLE mess of things in my head that, well, are somewhat confusing because I want to take off with my kids with or without my husband to just start over somewhere, meaning that I'd like my husband to get a different job. I HATE HATE HATE that he works third shift, I'M TIRED!! I want him home. I don't sleep well period. Plus he works nights comes home in the morning then goes to bed and I'm with the boys ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT. It gets very tiring after awhile.

And just having recently been fired from my part time job and becoming a stay at home mom again has been rough on me. I loved being away from the house for about four to five hours. It was a very nice break and now I can't get that. One thing good that did come out of this was that I started babysitting, kinda cheap but it's helping her and myself out.

Soccer

This is Connor's first season.  Daddy is his coach and just recieved kid/parent information.  He has five kids including Connor,  one other boy and three girls.  Chris just left to see if he could get the second practice changed because he just found out that one of the players wont be able to make it to Friday's practice because their oldest son plays for the high school football team.

We have five soccer balls at the moment but we also need a few other things to help teach them how to dribble and keep away.  There are a few games such as Red Light Green Light and Sharks and Minoes and more.  I will of course be out there as much as I can to help him as this is also Chris' first season coaching.

This is kind of exciting and kind of scary because we aren't sure what we are really getting into.  I know and he knows that there will be some parents that are a bit more competitive and so while others just want their kids to learn the game while having fun.  We will have lots of fun this fall.

In other news I've been babysitting a two year, she's just two weeks younger than James and head of him in the potty training game.  She's also going to start preschool but only for three days a week while my four year, Connor will be going four days a week.  I'm also hoping that at the beginning of September I'll be babysitting a six week old baby, but I'm not sure since the mother has been having issues with her c-section.

Connor had his physical for school yesterday(Monday) received four shots and was a good boy.  He's also is 44 inches tall and 43.5 lbs in the 90th precentile for both.  I have a very tall boy on my hands.  I'm honestly curious as to how tall he'll be come his sophomore year of high school but that's gonna be awhile.  His shots are good until 2016 when he goes into sixth grade.

I've started hard core potty training with James.  Strictly underwear during the day except for naps and bedtime.  So keep your fingers crossed for us that I can get him potty trained either by Christmas at the earliest or Valentine's Day at the latest.

Thanks for reading and keep a look out for tomorrow's Wordless Wednesday.

A New Series

My mother has given me a series of books called House of Night; Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed and Hunted.  I've just finished Marked and have started Betrayed.  So far I like them.  They are not gory nor are they up there in so called popular list.  P.C. Cast and her daughter Kristen have put a VERY different twist on the whole vampyre myth/legend, but from the first chapter they suck you in and you have been Marked.

Now whether or not you make it through the change you must make new of the life that is ahead of you.  Zoey Redbird was a normal sixteen year old high school student who never thought twice about it but also didn't want to take her geometery test the next day.  Of course she had friends and a family that obvisously had changed because of the man her mother married after her father died three years ago.

So all of that makes this Change so hard for her in the beginning because she just wants to be normal like everyone else in her new life.

So I've finished the last book in the series SO FAR.  There is a sixth book that will be published this October, I can't wait.  I also Can't for New Moon.  Jacob better be ready for a lot of screaming!  I hope the rest of you will be ready.

Wordless Wednesday 7.22

I know it's been a LONG WHILE Since I've typed but I've been busy and with having NO internet at home it's really rough to do anything.

We went to Michigan around the Fourth Of July for a family reunion, before that we had Connor's fourth birthday.   I will soon post pictures of both events but for now I will give just a few to show the fun that we've had the last few weeks.

Monday, Is It Just Another Day

Or the start of a good week? I hope it's a good start to a very wonderful week for everyone out there. I know I've enjoyed some great family time along with some NICE 70 degree weather. I know I've gotten emails from some companies and have considered there proposals but at the present time I just don't have the time nor the internet capablities to contribute to those reviews on my blog. I will keep those emails though to email back when I'm ready to get back on the blogging horse. I was able to change up my blog look for now. Simple, sleek, purple, and EASY for me to work with at the present time.

For now enjoy some pictures from Connor's Birthday to our trip to Michigan and back.

You Can Make This

youcanmakethis_personalizednamepillows_1I've been asked to review the Personalized Name Pillows Ebook  from You Can Make This.com.  Let just say it was easy to read just like it was easy to read the tie and apron Ebooks I was sent.

They look really neat, and if and when I ever have the money and time to buy the materials you better believe I'd make one each for my two boys.  Of course I would let them pick out the fabric that want.

Connor would probably pick John Deere, Cars, Transformers, Spiderman, or something animals.  James would probably pick John Deere or SpongeBob.

For your chance to own your very own Ebook, which I've been given the chance to giveaway to TWO READERS.  Your main entry is to tell me how many you make and for who.  Second entry would be to tell me what those pillows might lyoucanmakethis_personalizednamepillows_2ook like.

For EXTRA Entries you may do the following:

~ Subscribe either in email or reader
~ Follow me on twitter.
~ Vote for A Daily Dose at the Social Luxe Lounge for Guilty Pleasure.

Summer Activities

Long time!!   Well lot's of things have happened and lots of things ARE GOING to happen before summer is over!!  Just to recap since Mother's Day.   NOT MUCH!!! LOL Just been getting warmer and warmer, now it's gotten into the 80's.  OH and we've aquired a Red Eared Slider

We haven't figured out if it's a she or a he yet and we probably wont ever know for sure.  Connor has named it Turtle!! :) LOL He has gotten so cute about a few things since he started school, which yesterday was the last day of and today is the first day of summer vacation!!

Which leads me to summer activities that are coming up in our life this summer.  There's a lot so here ya go.  Enjoy.

First we will be celebrating my oldest sons fourth birthday, you can read about the birth here.  He has asked for a Power Wheel Four Wheeler, a slip and slide, shirts and shorts along with a few other things that I've forgotten at the moment.  Daddy wrote it all down when he asked Connor what he would like for his birthday.   Daddy will also be decorating the cake as a drag strip and placing Mustangs on it because that what Connor asked for.

Second there's our trip to Michigan for, a family reunion, my moms side of the family.  We will be there hopefully a WHOLE SEVEN DAYS!!!  This will be the first LONG trip both boys will have been on. Connor, my oldest went up with myself and my parents when he was twelve months old and I was four months pregnant with James.  So this trip will definitely be a different experience now that they will be four and two and a half.

Momma Cooks CookingThird hop on over to Momma Cooks Cooking for the next stop on the Blogging Carnival.  You can send your emails to caleenna at gmail dot com.

Then there will be the little trips to areas near us until school starts back up in August.  Such as the Louisville Zoo and/or the Cincinnati Zoo, one or both of the science museums, then of course the plentiful trips to the park along with some trips to the movies especially on those really HOT days.

So what are your plans for this summer, I'd like to hear about them.

Finally Got It Back!!

Thanks to Kimberly and my brain.  Since I was having issues the Revolution Lifestlye, with the sidebars.  I decided to just delete it from my host server to have to upload it again and of course it worked.  Then I was having issues with my content!

PING! Kimberly, was there to help me get it all straightened out.  She has typed up a few tutorials that I will have snippets of and linked to her, because I found out the other day that there were NONE for this theme so I suggested it to her.

I like the way it looks now I just need to get my header in the right spot and all will be good again.  Oh and don't forget about the ad spots that I have over there on the sidebar.  I will have more details on that as time moves on.

A few things to look forward to are a few giveaways along with reviews. Now that I have might site back to looking presentable I will be mosting a bit more.

Now I must leave you and tend to my kids and husband. MWAH!

Little Ad Spots!

You see those add spots over there to the right, yeah those.  Well pretty soon I'll be taking paid ads 10 dollars a month.  Right now I have those three up because well the first two I really like and the third won her spot from a contest on Mamma Dawg.   I'll have more details up later but for now, if you would like me to display your sites banner you can send it to me by email in one of the contact forms.  All I ask is that you put Ad in the subject line and place the code in the message area.

I've been somewhat busy the last couple of days. Of course Sunday was Easter and I had the family over for lunch then we did an egg hunt with eggs we decorated Friday.  Monday was just a normal Monday, dropped Connor off at school and went to work.  Tuesday the samething. Today, Wednesday I just went to work!!  And the first day I went to the tanning bed since 2003!!! OMG! WOW I didn't think it was that long ago since I had been.

Friday I have off so I can spot clean my house before Saturday when I have my Thirty One Purse party.  It's also the day I get my hair cut. I'm still debating on what I want to do with it. Go figure.

Sorry I haven't been around much to everyone's blog but without internet at  my house I only get about two hours on a computer with internet.  I promise I'm not negelecting I'm just not able to read as much as before.

If there is anything you would like me to read please leave a link to it in Mr. Linky so that I may come and read your posts and leave ya some love.

New Surroundings

I know it looks different here and there aren't any buttons or anything. Sad to say something got really messed up in the theme I was using before, I did ask for help but I hadn't heard back from anyone about it. So I'm hoping Kathie from Simply WP will help me out and maybe, just maybe I will get a new completely new look.

Other purple news, the office has offically moved to their new place. My office is dinky, I am sitting next to the copier machine. It will get loud in thie room when they print stuff.

On April 18th at 10 in the morning I will be getting a new hair do!! I'm excited and a bit nervous because I've thought about doing something totally new and different. Ever since high school I've had it shoulder length with and without layers. I've had it short, permed wavy and tight curly.

I will also be having a Thiry-One Purse Party that day in the afternoon.

And this is just a few weeks ago.

It's been since last June and I need a HAIRCUT badly.  I like the shoulder length one at the top but the shorter it gets the less my hubby likes it.  So I want to keep it between mid-neck and shoulder length.  Here's another question< should I go with layers?   I may even have her highlight it some because well it's summer.

So tell me what you think because I need to make the appointment soon.
Thanks.
